<< Back to Testimonials Page Nov 20, 2003 - Attn: Mr. Ed Van Ravestein, Superindendent Dear Mr. Van Ravenstein: We have a daughter who is enrolled in your districts virtual high school and wanted to take the time to express our extreme satisfaction with the program. Our daughter has health problems (multiple allergies, chemical sensitivities and fatigue). That make is very difficult for her to attend regular schools. She missed a lot of school days. Being a bright and studious person, she was able to make it through middle school with very good grades. It became much more difficult for her to attend a regular high school because of her health problems and she missed most of her sophomore year. The private school that she attended was unable to provide or suggest alternatives. We were facing quite a bit of turmoil in our lives because of the question of how to conduct her education in a way that would work for her. Upon contacting the Monroe school district in Jan. 03 we were immediately impressed by Lin Rosenstiel and then by Dan Bauer. Most recently we have been working directly with Bill Gross, who has taken the time to get directly involved by phone, email, U.S. post and in person by traveling to our home in Green Bay. They are all dedicated, understanding and progressive people to whom we are very grateful for all of the information and help that they have provided regarding Monroe's virtual high school program. We have also been very pleased with the course materials and teacher feedback on exams and papers. Our daughter has been very happy with the course materials and is doing very well in this virtual program. She is able to choose from a much wider variety of course offerings and is finding many more courses that appeal to her particular interests and capabilities. She finds the courses that she chooses are much more challenging and interesting than she had experienced in regular high school. She is also able to work at her own pace and in an environment at home that is condusive to her improving health. She has become more organized and responsible for her time. We cannot imagine a better program for our daughter's needs and abilities, and we are so pleased to be a part of a program that is on the cutting edge of education. Individualized education for every student is a goal worth achieving and this virtual program is definitely a means to that end.
