Jan 26, 2010 - Marinette Area Virtual School students invited to join.
Look on FACEBOOK under "Marinette Area Virtual High Schoolers" to become part of an area social group. This page was developed for all virtual school students, regardless of the specific school they attend.
Beginning February 1, virtual school students in grades 6-12 in the Marinette area have a new option when deciding where to do their schoolwork for the day. From 2:30-5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, students can meet at the Stephenson Library in Marinette for a fully supervised learning experience. The goal of the program is to help break the isolation many virtual students feel. While the virtual experience is excellent academically, the socialization can be difficult.
The Virtual Learning program will be run by Janet Gustman, a local teacher with many years experience in both traditional and virtual schooling. She has not only been involved in virtual schools since their inception, but has served as a founding officer with the WI Coalition of Virtual School Families. As a licensed teacher and private tutor, she can also provide coaching to virtual students as they complete their coursework.
An organizational meeting will be held Monday, February 1 at 2:30 p.m. at the Stephenson Library. For more information, please contact Janet Gustman at 587-5577.
